My hands are very hard working with what I do. Providing facial services consistently exposes them to higher amounts of water with warm towel compressing, higher than normal amounts of hand washing, dipping my hands in water multiple times during a service...this list goes on and doesn't even cover the topic of my ezcema that has plagued my hands the last few years.
Basically it goes like this: topical addition of water, without the additional step of adding an occlusive on top, runs the risk of increasing the skins natural process of evaporation called Trans epidermal water loss (TEWL). This is why I am not a fan of misting our faces throughout the day, especially when you live in a desert like environment like Calgary. The topical water disrupts the barrier and take more water with it when it naturally evaporates = dehydrated skin.
Even though I am massaging your faces with oils and balms, the repeated "assault" of my hands in water takes it toll on my skin. So I've had to find lotions that sink in quickly and are easy to apply. Oil based products are tough for this application as they can take a while to sink in, but traditional "white creams" can contain emulsifiers that break down our skin barrier even more. Enter Paume.
Over my 3 year challange with the ezcema on my hands, I would often have to wear gloves and castor oil overnight, which is a messy nightmare. I wish this product had existed back then as it gives my hands the moisture they need, without the mess. Not much topical will "cure" your ezcema as this condition is coming from internal imbalances, but creams like this as so useful to help manage the condition.
