Aspen Glow Translucent SPF 30 Powder

Decades ago, before there were a lot of options and no Sephora in Canada, I ordered a very popular mineral makeup off a 3 am informercial. It worked so well I used it for years as if served as both sunscreen and makeup for me. And I continued to use it when Sephora came to Canada so I do believe that powder sunscreens can have a place in our skin rituals.


I know the studies don’t favour the application of powder sunscreens as they say that you have to put so much on for it to be effective but how often are we actually re-applying our sunscreen because we don’t want to put it overtop our makeup? A dusting of powder sunscreen can help in this scenario if you want to reapply throughout the day. And it can help if you are sitting in front of a computer all day in an office as well because the iron oxides in it help to protect against the artificial blue light from our screens and office lighting. If I was going to worry about light exposure aging my face, I’d be more worried about artificial blue light exposure (HEV light) than natural light frequencies from the sun. 


If you have talked to me in the last couple of years you know I have changed my thoughts on sunscreen as we need the healing powers of the sun for our health. However, our faces are exposed all the time so I still wear it on my face every day. Do I reapply every day? Not really and it depends on what’s happening in the day. But I keep this powder in my purse if I’m going to sit on a patio or something because quite honestly, my forehead is SO big the top of it is very susceptible to burning haha. So I’ll powder that area and not worry about it anymore.
