Luna Rosa Hippie Dippie Herbal Healing Balm

I’m a little obsessed with breathable occlusive balms right now and this product started it for me. I’m always on the lookout for new, herbalist driven skincare and Chantelle + Mel are right here in Southern Alberta. Their herbs + flowers are grown in their gardens and they have such a wonderful mission.

This balm has a little more beeswax than most balms do (it’s the first ingredient) and it is so good for our skin in this dry Alberta weather - they live here too so they get it! With more beeswax, this balm is great at reducing TEWL (trans epidermal water loss). TEWL is a normal function of our skin and provides necessary signaling to the skin but again, dry weather, indoor heating and basically everything in modern day life can increase it, which is not a good thing.

I put this on for the first time overnight and was surprised at how plump my skin felt in the morning. I even got Chloe to try it and she said she doesn’t normally like things like that on her skin but even she was surprised at how soft her skin was the next day. When our skin holds on to a bit more hydration, it really is incredible the positive difference it makes (this is why I put it in the Hydration Booster category). And with this being the first full winter walking Fern every day, I feel like my skin is winning against the elements.
