Mimar Ultra Vit C Concentrate

I am such an 80/20 person. 80% of the time I want you to just put some whole plant skincare on your face and go live your life. The other 20%, well we might need a little extra help.


This concentrate contains an impressive 15% Tetrahexadecyl Ascorbate (THD) along with other known plants to reduce pigmentation and stimulate collagen production. Tetrahexadecyl Ascorbate Is an oil based vitamin C and it much more tolerable by many more skin types than traditional L-Ascorbic Acid, which is notoriously unstable and oxides more quickly. 


There is a difference between water soluble and oil soluble vitamin c products. Which to choose? It depends on your skin & your lifestyle. Water soluble formulations can help mop up free radicals once they are made but oil soluble formulas have a wider umbrella of protection because they are so compatable with our cellular membranes. This means that they can protect in a top down way that can prevent the free radicals from being made in the first place. For me, that's a smarter delivery system. 


It's possible that L-Ascorbic Acid has the potential to stimulate collagen a little more quickly than THD as it's already ascorbic acid and THD has to be converted into ascorbic acid. But that is what makes it so potentially irritating and unstable and to me, that's a recipe for inflammation. I'm way less worried about stimulating new collagen than I am about protecting the collagen you already have. I wish everyone was as obsessed about protecting the collagen they have over always needing to do crazy thigns to try and stimulate new collagen. Your skin knows how to do it's job and if we let it, the right conversions will happen and we'll get a secondary effect of helping stimulate collagen synthesis with THD. One of the biggest drivers of collagen breakdown in these modern day times is the constant exposure to our technology.


The computer & phone screens that we use all day (and night) emit HEV, isolated blue light which is very harmful to our skin cells. It increases lipid peroxidation in our skin (our cell membranes are lipids so this is damage to our cellular membranes).


Damaged lipids = weaker barrier → more dehydration and sensitivity.

Lipid breakdown = inflammatory signals → redness, irritation.

In mitochondria, lipid peroxidation = bad instructions to pigment cells → stubborn dark spots.

Over time, this accelerates the visible signs of aging: dullness, wrinkles, uneven tone.


So oil soluble THD protects the cell membranes, mitochondrial membranes, and the stratum corneum lipid barrier (the outer most layer of the epidermis - aka the roof of your house). It directly halts lipid peroxidation chains that otherwise destabilize the barrier and create inflammatory cascades and is especially valuable for photoprotection, since UV + pollution tend to attack lipids first.
